Papoose Crafts is a program to not only learn the art of making quilts, but also a tool to help mothers who have lost their children. Quilts are made using the garments the children wore, as a sentimental reminder. At time and for certain individuals or families the process of expressing themselves verbally becomes difficult and awkward. Under those circumstances the therapeutic process can take the modality of engaging in the process of using crafts as a way of solving conflicts through creative arts and crafts. The sessions and workshops are organized for individuals, families and groups willing to engage in the creation of an individual or group project. At the end of the process they can take them home or present them in Art galleries or shows through the city or out of state. At the Women's Center and through the collaborative, design, completion and display the healing process takes form and shape in an object of beauty and the individual or communal soul searching. Sharing thoughts and concerns with therapist or other individuals has proven for centuries to be a great avenue to stress release and emotional comfort. For more information, or to book a class, please call 267-467-0520. $300 for group sessions of crafts workshops lasting 3 hours.
